Below is a short report from the CCC business meeting discussion on the special issue. With the vote and further discussion among the conference committee, we decided to have the special issue for the 2004 conference in the journal Computational Complexity with Eric Allender as editor. The conference committee will continue to study the issue and take input from the community before making decisions on future years. Please send me email (fortnow@cs.uchicago.edu) on any comments you may have on the special issue. Lance Fortnow ----------------------- At the business meeting I invited editors from four journals interested in hosting our special issue: Jin-Yi Cai representing JCSS, Sasha Razborov for Computational Complexity, Alan Selman for TOCS and Chris Umans for the new on-line journal Theory of Computing. All four journals had clear advantages and disadvantages. After the presentations and some good discussion I distributed a written ballot and asked every to rank the four journal options and the option of "No special issue". Here is a summary of the votes. 1st place votes 2nd place votes total JCSS 10 5 15 CC 26 15 41 TOCS 14 22 36 TOC 7 9 16 None 1 0 1 There was definitely much stronger support for the Springer journals over staying with JCSS or going with TOC. Between the two Springer journals CC had many more 1st place votes.
