Course Description:
Process Aware Information Systems (PAIS) facilitate the design, execution, and
coordination of structured work processes by groups of people. PAIS systems
include workflow systems, software engineering systems, and B2B network
systems. This course will explore the PAIS domain via lectures, discussions,
projects, and exercises. The text for the course is a newly published book of
articles entitled “Process-Aware Information Systems: Bridging People and
Software through Process Technology.” The first half of the course will
introduce the theory, concepts and technology of PAIS via lectures and
exercises. The second portion of the course will require each student to do a
research project or paper within the PAIS domain.
Prerequisites:
Basic knowledge of computer systems and software. Interest and ability to read
the literature, and explore interdisciplinary research.
