Replicated Revision Control System
Replicated revision control system (RRCS) is suitable for
use in a wide-area distributed computing environment in which computing
nodes may fail at any time and the communication network may undergo temporary
communication failures or communication partitions. This system has been
developed by extending an existing revision control system (RCS). RRCS
provides support to the members of a software development group who are
geographically distributed and collaborate by using a wide-area network
such as the Internet. It efficiently maintains different versions of the
source code files that the group members are developing and makes them
available on their local machines. The system ensures version availability
despite communication or processor failures in the distributed system.
