Welcome


I am a professor of Computer Science, a fellow in the Institute of Cognitive Science, and co-director of CLEAR (Computational Language and Education Research). My current research areas involve Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval as well as their application  to problems in education, medical informatics, and crisis informatics.

I am the co-author with Dan Jurafsky of  the leading text book for natural language processing: Speech and Language Processing: An Introduction to Natural Language Processing, Computational Linguistics and Speech Recognition.
