Jumping ahead to that agenda item: many of our teams had banner years in the classroom. The men's ski team, for instance, had a team GPA of 3.402, the women's cross-country team hit its 15th consecutive semester over 3.0, and the football team had its best term GPA on record (2.661). The overall fall GPA across the department was 2.867 - also the best ever. [Kris, Dave: there was a request for the overall campus GPA number, so we can compare. Do you know how we can find that out?] ==== WELL DONE, KRIS & CEAL ==== We also: - welcomed Katie Hartmann from the ski team, who is president of SAC, and who will be the SA rep to the IAC for the rest of this year - talked about restocking (since the terms of several members are ending soon) - discussed some class & exam conflicts, including the PAC-12 track & field championships (which we urged Phil to pursue with the PAC-12 leadership - he said he'd follow up) - heard a bit from Ceal about how things are scheduled in the PAC-12, which left us all reeling - heard a report about the CUBAB meeting from Martha - heard a great briefing from Julie about NCAA legislative changes (partial qualifiers not playing as freshmen, closing the gap between scholarship $ and the true cost of living, the 930 APR) - talked a bit about the thursday home football game. the main points of discussion were the need to (1) get clarification on the likely frequency from the PAC-12 (2) plan ahead - and communicate - even more carefully than last fall (3) deal effectively with faculty complaints (4) categorize impacts and explore compensation We decided to discuss the MFB game issues again at the February meeting, when Mike could weigh in. I will post the notes for that meeting later tonight. Liz
