I'll post the agenda for our next meeting - 4pm next tuesday - later this week. That's our last meeting of the year, by the way, and part of its agenda will be setting next year's meeting time. Please plan to come. Liz Topics & discussion: - The transfer appeals committee document is still sitting in the chancellor's office. I asked Joe Rosse for help pushing on this and we've since had some results. I'll report next week. - Ceal and Julie broached the issue of the scholarship appeals committee document with Gwen Pomper, who was singularly unreceptive of the notion of BFA representation on that committee. This represents an about-face from my meetings with her last year, after which she sent me an updated committee charge that included faculty reps on it. - Track meet during finals: we approved this year's incarnation of this meet at our February meeting (Thanks, Helen). Coach Wetmore is willing to shift to friday if that would be better. We decided not to offer an opinion either way on that, but we did agree that when CU is the host of this meet, that it not be scheduled during our finals period. (JULIE: can you relay that to Mark or shall I?) - Weekday football games: we looked over the newest version of our recommendations, which have now been through the BFA ExecComm and the full BFA. I've since talked to Phil about this and will report next week. - We talked about the possible impacts of the move of MFB's practice time to the morning. This is moot, as it has been moved back to the afternoon. - Dave reviewed major choices among student-athletes. We agreed that there was no inappropriate clumping going on. - Dave also told us about the AAA committee, which must approve any visit by a scholastically marginal recruit. This committee is working well; coaches (esp. MFB and MBB, where this is critical) are not only cooperating, but are changing their modi operandi and bringing fewer marginal cases to the committee. The incoming MFB class is far more qualified as a result, and the recruiting budget has even benefitted, since we're not spending money on people who won't make it here.
