I won't be keeping or posting detailed minutes, but I will generally follow up by email with a synopsis. This is the first such synopsis. You can always find the agenda and other materials at www.cs.colorado.edu/~lizb/bfa-iac.html - Meeting time for the spring semester was determined to be the first monday of every month at 11am. Location TBD. - Ted Snow and/or Steve Jones will attend meetings of the compliance committee on behalf of the IAC and the BAB. (Thank you, gentlemen.) - Kim Trenbath, our grad student rep, has put me in touch with an undergrad who will act as our UCSU representative, starting in the spring. - We need a student-athlete representative. (Ceal, can you please recruit someone for this? I'll be at SAAC tonight and can make the announcement if you'd prefer.) - Dave Clough sent me the FAR position description, which is now posted on the webpage. If anyone else has things that they'd like me to post, please send them along. - The synthesis of everyone's prioritizations of the issues has a clear winner: the COIA report. Title IX/gender equity was second, with club sports and faculty involvement in recruiting & hiring tied for third. With that in mind, here's the skeleton of our agenda for the year: November: review IAC & BAB charges; start discussing COIA December: finish discussing COIA and put together a BFA motion re: same January: Gender equity/Title IX (who else should we involve here?) February: Club sports (who else should we involve here?) March: Faculty involvement in recruiting (student-athletes) and hiring (staff) April: Leakage May: Wrap-up; report synthesis; planning for next year This outline only lists the big-ticket items. Each meeting will also include several smaller topics, such as: consultations with the FAR, the provost, etc.; briefings from various people; requests and ultimata from the BFA; and other small fires that arise. You'll notice that the end of the schedule is less full. That's to allow for the inevitable optimism of schedule-makers. Liz p.s. I will post these synopses on the webpage, so you don't need to save this email.
