My 300-person 8am freshman class is keeping me a bit busy. We discussed COIA proposals (1.1.2) (1.2.1) (1.2.2) (1.2.5) (2.1.1) (3.1) (3.2) (3.5) and (4.4). Each proposal was assigned to a scribe: (1.1.2) Ceal (1.2.1) Martha (1.2.2) Ted (1.2.5) Lieschen (2.1.1) Deward and (I think) Steve (but can't read my writing) (3.1) Kim (3.2) Bob (3.5) Liz (4.4) Dave The scribe's job was to record the discussion and put together a short (few sentences) summary. If you have not already done so, please send me your summaries THIS WEEK so we can circulate them by email. (Many thanks to Martha, Ted, and Kim for doing so already.) We are scheduled for a slot in the Feb 7th BFA meeting to present our results, so time is of the essence. The goal for the next meeting is to finalize our recommendations, including suggested implementation details, resource needs, and responsibility chains We will also have to decide upon the big-picture stuff: Who is our intended audience, and what effects do we hope to have upon them, based on our discussions of this information? E.G., do we want the BFA to pass a motion urging the administration to implement the suggestions in our report? Or something else? One thing that came out loud and clear is that CU is already doing many of these things - indeed, is a recognized national leader - and that an important part of what we want to accomplish with this is to raise faculty awareness of that fact. Our next meeting is Feb 4th at 11am in CIRES 340, which is just down the hall from the Ekeley room in which we met on monday. Liz
