Hi! Welcome to the CU CS graduate program. I am excited to work with you over the course of the next few years. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email to set up an appointment. My schedule typically fills up 1-2 weeks ahead of time, so if you need a meeting, please email me as soon as possible. I may have to contact other people to find out the correct answer to your questions, so some questions may take longer than others to answer. In the meantime, here are some frequently asked questions that students ask.

Things to do before our first in-person meeting:

  • Email me 1-2 weeks ahead of time for a meeting time.
  • Fill out the appropriate Plan of Study Form.
  • Save the form as PlanOfStudyMS_YourLastName, pdf the form (Google Docs lets you pdf if you do not have the software), and send it to me in an email.
  • Please include in the email what area of computer science you are interested in.

Frequently Asked Questions by Students I Advise

  • Do I register for the courses right away? If yes, then when do I pay the necessary fees?

Unfortunately, you have to wait until you receive a letter from the admissions office. The letter will tell you what you need to do.

  • How do I select the courses and whom do I get those approved from?

Once you send confirmation back to admissions, they will send you a PIN number so you can register. We can discuss courses you are interested in. You should have received a MS plan of study that needs to be completed and bring it to campus when you arrive. Then I will sign it and you can return it to the graduate advisor.

  • What is the minimum number of courses I need to take to be considered as a full time graduate student?

5 graduate level hours or 8 combined undergraduate and graduate level hours.

  • How do I decide on what courses will help me obtain my M.S.?

The CS Department has created a Plan of Study form (select the appropriate form from this page) to help guide you through the M.S. requirements. Please fill out this form, save it as PlanOfStudyMS_YourLastName, pdf the form and send it to me in an email before we meet in person. Also, please include in the email what area of computer science you are interested in.
