Grandma Esposito's (formerly Frida's) Rosettes (from Sweden) salad oil or shortening (for deep fryer) 2 eggs, unbeaten 1 T sugar 1/8 t salt 1 C milk 1 C sifted all purpose flour 1 t vanilla extract Confectioners sugar to sprinkle on top. Heat oil to 365. Put rosette maker in oil and get it really nice and hot. Pour some batter in small bowl (that way when the batter gets funky from the oily rosette maker, the entire batch isn't wasted - just rinse out bowl and start again). Dip rosette maker in small bowl of batter until 2/3 up the maker (MAKE SURE BATTER DOES NOT GO OVER TOP OF MAKER), put in frying pan. Rosette may come off by itself in the fryer - flip with fork to make sure golden on both sides. Use fork if rosette doesn't come off on it's own. Put paper towels down on baking sheet to help soak up oil.
