Introduction
ClassNotes+ is a project which will use a mixture
of hypertext, on-line demos, class notes, video clips,
special on-line "blackboard-with-audio" pieces,
and pointers to the literature to support the
teaching of computer science at the University of
Colorado at Boulder and elsewhere.
The materials will support exploration by the
students. Furthermore, ClassNotes+
will demonstrate
that students can be involved in the creation of such
materials as part of their education.
More details can be found in an
executive summary
as well as in the
original proposal.
Funding
This project is currently supported by the Undergraduate
Excellence Fund of the College of Engineering
and Applied Science at the University of Colorado at Boulder,
by the Fluor-Daniel Fund
for Innovation in Teaching, and by the Communication
Initiative of the University of Colorado.
Status
A first topic page, letting students explore the behavior of
two
"shortest-path" algorithms, is done. It will serve as
prototype for other pages, providing much of the Java software that
will allow us to create similar pages for other graph algorithms.
This, as well as the
development of a similar environment for array-based algorithms, which is
almost finished, will allow us to produce more pages to support courses
in data structures and algorithms and similar topics.
