Disco Ain't Dead

Jory Benerofe, Edwin Mocke, Eric Scharff

Disco lives on in this automaton's tribute to the Saturday Night Fever era. In the original design, a disco ball would rise and fall from a soundproof studio-style box while constantly spinning. In later designs, the spinning object is modular (including the solid gold CD pyramid shown above) and certain motions have been delegated to the cricket. The various motions are controlled by a hand-constructed system of wooden gears.
