Automated Scheduling and Delivery of Advertising for the World Wide Web
Senior Project: 1995-1996
Russell Cooper, Douglas Cosman, Trond Hansen and Colin Harsh
This application is a coordinated system of programs that run in concert to
enable the automatic scheduling, insertion, and analysis of Web-based
advertisements -- all coordinated from a central location. Working with a few
simple parameters that are given in a sponsor's ad order, this application will
do the following:
-
Automate the selection of the appropriate client Web pages
on which to place the ad.
-
Determine the availability of time for each of these Web
pages and reserve time on them accordingly.
-
Create schedules of ad rotation times for each client
Web page.
-
Automatically insert these ads at the proper times on
these Web pages.
-
Collect and summarize the number of Internet users who view
or click on these ads.
The system was developed using the Microsoft Access Relational Database
Management System, Microsoft Excel, C, and C++ to run on a combination of PCs
and UNIX workstations.
