Terrain Data Visualizer
Senior Project: 1991-1992

The Scientific Visualization Group (SVG) of NCAR needed a high-level scientific
visualization application which would offer a quick-look capability for
plotting global terrain data overlaid with maps of political and/or continental
boundaries from NCAR's EZMAP database. The terrain data was required to be
rendered as a 3D surface with either a wire frame or as filled polygons.
The project allows scientists to view arbitrary rectangular regions of the
surface of the earth, while controlling various aspects of the view. These
include rotation of the viewed surface, the overlay of various boundaries, and
the control of the colors used to represent the various elevations on the
rendered surface. The software was written in C, using the X Window System,
Motif graphical user interface toolkit, and PEX rendering package.
