Distributed Wiring Harness Communications Framework
Senior Project: 2006-2007
Redefine Technologies, based in Golden, Colorado, began as a web development
company. Currently, they are shifting their focus to development of innovative
space technologies.
Testing of spacecraft components such as Flight Controls and Sensor Modules
currently requires that the individual subsystems be transported to the same
physical location. To overcome this limitation, Redefine has conceived a
technology that will allow pre-integration testing of subsystems developed in
different areas of the country. The Distributed Wiring Harness will allow
subsystems to be connected and tested via an internet connection.
This project provides a software infrastructure that will facilitate the
implementation of a Distributed Wiring Harness. The software infrastructure,
code named Universal Meta-Synergy Catalyst (UMC), facilitates communication
amongst subsystems, provides logging capability, and allows the virtualization
of subsystems still in development. The software will run on a Data
Distribution Unit (DDU). By utilizing the capability of the DDU hardware, UMC
will provide the software foundation for distributed system-level testing of
spacecraft subsystems.
