Established in 1993, VR-1, Inc. is a technology-driven developer of "massively
multiplayer" games and interactive entertainment for the Internet, commercial
online services, and emerging broadband and cable networks. The company
supplies existing networks and their subscribers with compelling online
entertainment content.
The goal of this project was to create a multiplayer turn-based game using Java
and the new JDBC Database Interface. VR-1 pioneered in-browser turn-based
gaming with its product UltraCorps, which used the D2G engine. This project
extends in-browser gaming possibilities through the use of Java. It combines
the D2G and JDBC technologies to produce a turn-based game of medieval
conquest. The world is populated with medieval characters such as knights,
pikemen, and peasants, who fight, build castles and ships, and generally try to
conquer the world.
