Object-Oriented Human Resource Subsystems
Senior Project: 1990-1991
Marc Haverland, Robert Newman and Jeffrey Rink
As a firm providing consulting to a large number of companies, an important
aspect of the operation of Andersen Consulting is the management of employee
information. This information includes employee biographical data, data on
employee's education and training, and the various skills and interests each
employee possesses. This is currently done through the use of several
independent systems, each handling some aspect of employee information. The
goal of the project was to investigate new technologies to enhance the overall
effectiveness and quality of Andersen's Human Resource Systems. The student
project used an object-oriented design and implementation to develop an
interactive, graphical interface and database to allow the addition, deletion,
retrieval, and update of employee data, for use by Andersen's administrative
and practice personnel. This software was implemented in the C++ programming
language, using an X Window System user interface toolkit running on a network
of UNIX workstations and PCs.
