LAMP-Based Web 2.0 Custom CRM Solution
Senior Project: 2007-2008
AppliedTrust, a small IT consulting firm in Boulder,
Colorado, uses a highly-sophisticated ticket system called ATREK to
control all management of its many projects. This system is built on top of
several open source projects, but also boasts an extensive code base of its
own. These extensions were written entirely in-house by ATE engineers.
Unfortunately, while very powerful, ATREK was completely disconnected
from ATE's wealth of client information (contact info, extensive contact
histories, etc.). ATE therefore had to use Goldmine, a completely
separate legacy Win-32 application, to handle its client information. This
caused extreme frustration and inefficiency for the users, as engineers
constantly had to switch between two disjoint application architectures
to accomplish their work. ATE wanted a customized Customer Relationship
Management (CRM) system tightly integrated with ATREK to address
this issue.
The software is designed to be a flexible, extensible, and customizable contact
management system. In addition to the actual management of client data, the
system contains code designed to integrate its data with existing ATREK
functionality, such as ticket updates and views. The system also tightly
integrates with ATE's mobile platform, which is currently the T-Mobile Dash
architecture, by allowing its data to be accessible outside of ATE's physical
environment. The system is built upon the LAMP (Linux-Apache-MySQL-PHP)
architecture to ensure a high level of platform integration and future
development potential.
