Senior Project - Stylus3

3D Paint Application for a 3D Graphics Animation System

Senior Project: 1995-1996
David Hay, Leah Morgan, Simon Premoze and Judie Weibel

Pixel Kitchen and G. W. Hannaway & Associates (PK and GWH&A) have established a niche in the 3D computer graphics and animation industry, working with Silicon Graphics, Inc. to develop better systems for animation graphics. PK and GWH&A are also involved in the production of 3D graphic animations for industry, games, commercials, television networks, and such movies and Hollywood productions as "Lawn-mower Man". This project encompassed the creation of a 3D paint program for the SGI/UNIX platform to be used as a "Plug-in" application for the LightWave 3D animation system. As a Plug-in, this system utilizes various graphic functions already in place, but goes one step further by utilizing SGI's graphics language to manipulate hardware specific graphics functions and increase processing speeds. The software was developed using an object-oriented approach in C++.
