User Service Request and Tracking System
Senior Project: 1994-1995
Jeffrey Barry, John Martinez, Vida Sabeti and Hyunjoo Walker
The Design Technologies Department had been using a simple program with a
character-based interface to track users' requests for service. The program
allowed the user to make the requests (represented by "tickets"), and allowed
Design Technologies to track the requests as they were handled. UNIX mail was
used for notification of changes in the status of a request.
This project involved the development of a Graphical User Interface (GUI) to
replace the character-based interface, adding many new features to the program.
Some of the new features added include automated ticket annotation, customized
ticket display, pattern search capabilities, integration with personnel and
ticket databases, additional ticket fields, restricted field accessibility, and
non-interactive ticket manipulation. The GUI was developed in C using X Windows
and Motif libraries.
