A SOAP/Linux LONWORKS Network Services Server
Senior Project: 2000-2001
Deidre Brucker, Shane Church, Jennifer Peterson and Jonathan Schreiner
IEC, a Golden-based company, develops systems to control and monitor building
environments. They make extensive use of LONWORKS technology, which revolves
around a real time, distributed control, open protocol architecture. LONWORKS
technology is being used as the distributed control architecture in industries
including building automation, process control, telecommunications, and home
automation. IEC has also developed a Win32 and embeddable API called Peak
Components that supports the network management, monitor, and control of these
distributed networks.
The goal of this project was to develop a web-based application which acts as
an interface to Peak Components. The interface allows a user to not only see
the current status of devices hooked up to a Local Operation Network, or LON,
but also to change the status of those devices remotely. The system was
developed using a large number of technologies, including C++, JavaScript, and
ASP.
