Senior Project: 1991-1992

IBM has collected skill information for employees. This skills inventory is
used to plan education, find expertise, and promote technical vitality. The
skills are collected by level from low (no experience) to high (capable of
teaching). There are approximately 200 skill codes which may change with time.
The purpose of the project was to develop a user-friendly system which would
allow the skills inventory to be searched by skill code (to determine which
employees met certain skill requirements), by department (to produce various
reports on the skills exhibited by individual departments), or by individual
(to produce various reports on an individual's skills). The software needed to
allow individuals to update their skill inventory as their expertise evolved.
Finally, the project needed to allow for the update of the skills inventory, as
new skills, departments, and employees were added to the database. The project
was developed using the OS/2 Database Manager.
