A LAN party is a social event centered around competitive multiplayer video
games. Large LAN parties can include hundreds of players and computers running
many games simultaneously. Having experienced the difficulty of organizing and
administrating these events, the sponsor identified the need for an easy to
use, comprehensive LAN party administration tool. The goal of this project was
to meet that need with a Windows and web-based application.
The system allows LAN party administrators to manage an arbitrary number of
game servers from within a single application. It provides a unified interface,
independent of the particular game engine, for all the basic game
administration tasks, such as changing game options, adding players to games
and kicking them out, restarting maps, and querying for game details. In
addition to helping administrators set up and manage game servers, the software
also continuously collects game statistics and publishes information about
players, games, and tournament progress as web pages for players to view.
The system supports six of the most popular first-person-shooter games on
the market. The software is designed to easily add support for future games.
