A Visual Radio Spot Scheduling System
Senior Project: 1998-1999
KVCU Radio 1190, the University of Colorado student-run radio station, operated
for many years as KUCB, broadcasting only on campus via cable. Recently, KUCB
became KVCU and began broadcasting over the air in the Boulder/Denver area.
With this change, it became necessary to exercise more control over which spots
(ads, public service announcements, station IDs, etc.) were played and when
they were played. To facilitate this, a scheduling system was developed,
allowing a user to schedule spots to be played at various times and under
various conditions, along with a means for producing reports indicating which
spots were played and when they were played. The system was developed in
Visual Basic using an Access database.
