Colorado Frame Company had an existing DOS-based point of
sale system that it had developed specifically for its own
retail picture framing and art gallery. The system had the
ability to generate invoices, work orders, purchase orders,
and estimates. It did this while providing an interface
specific to the framing business. For instance, a clerk
could enter data for frame width and height, along with
mat, moulding, and glass types, and the system would
automatically calculate the final cost of the job,
including labor. Material availability and pricing
information was stored in a database. The goal of this project
was to develop a functionally equivalent system to run under a
Windows environment. The system was developed using dBase 7.
