DreamQuest Software, based in Louisville, Colorado, develops games for the
Windows PC, Pocket PC, Palm and Mobile Phone markets. In particular, they have
developed many popular card games, including Hearts, Spades, Gin and Blackjack,
which have won numerous awards for their challenge and fun. Championship
Solitaire is a new card game to be added to the DreamQuest portfolio.
Championship Solitaire is a Solitaire game unlike any other. It includes three
variations: Klondike (Original Solitaire), Freecell, and Addiction.
Championship Solitaire also includes a variety of game play options, game
statistics, and very robust artificial intelligence. It is playable on both
PC and mobile devices and takes full advantage of DreamQuest's existing
graphics and sound. But perhaps the most unique and innovative feature of the
game is the "Race Bar". The Race Bar allows the player to compete against a
computer opponent or a human opponent via a network. In the Race Bar, there are
two horses racing against each another from start to finish. This allows the
player to see both their progress through the game as well as how they are
playing relative to their opponent.
Championship Solitaire was implemented within the existing DreamQuest
game architecture. It was created using Visual Basic 6.0 and AppForge. The
implementation utilized vast portions of the existing shared code base while
adding new code and functionality in a modular way.
