DreamQuest Software, based in Louisville, Colorado, develops games for the
Windows PC, Pocket PC, Palm and Mobile Phone markets. In particular, they have
developed many popular card games, including Hearts, Spades, Gin and Blackjack,
which have won numerous awards for their challenge and fun. Since Poker is a
very popular card game, Championship Texas Hold 'em was a logical card game to
be added to the DreamQuest portfolio. The goal was a poker game designed for
the casual gamer. It has a clean and easy-to-use interface, it has lively
avatars and skillful AI to compete against, and it runs on both Windows and
PalmOS.
Championship Texas Hold 'em was implemented within the existing DreamQuest
game architecture. It was created using Visual Basic 6.0 and AppForge. The
implementation utilized vast portions of the existing shared code base while
adding new code and functionality in a modular way.
