Back End for a University Student Resource Web Site
Senior Project: 2000-2001
The Anderson Group, a venture capital company from Michigan committed to
funding an online student exchange web site to be developed by a senior project
team. BuffExchange is a web-based campus-wide student exchange resource
developed for the Anderson Group. It provides important services to students
that are not currently available as a package through the Internet. Students
are able to access these services from anywhere that a web browser is
available. The site is organized so that other schools that wish to use the
service will be seamlessly integrated through web-based administrative
utilities. Some of the services that BuffExchange provides are classifieds,
campus news, used textbook exchange, and a Java based chat system.
BuffExchange was developed using a combination of Java, PHP, MySQL, and HTML.
The resulting web page allows users to access all of the functionality of
BuffExchange from any web browser. The administrator function is built into the
web page and is accessed with the administrator password.
