VR-1, Inc. develops 3D, multi-player video games for the PC market for publishers such as Merit Studios, Interactive Magic, Epicenter and Rocket Science. Much of the game development takes place in St. Petersburg, Russia, where VR-1 has over 30 programmers. Over the past few years VR-1 has developed an object-oriented 3D game engine which allows one to create 3D game environments such as flight simulators, Doom-style games, and other virtual reality based applications. The goal of this project was to create the game concept and to develop an application using this technology. In this futuristic game, Arachnet, freedom of information has been squelched by a digital tyrant corporation controlling the Net. The goal is to program an army of digital insects to regain control of the Net. It was developed in C++ using an object-oriented approach and runs under DOS.
