A Graphical Interface to Automated Software Distribution
Senior Project: 1991-1992
Annatek Systems' products are designed to distribute software applications and
data from a central site to end users and automatically install the software or
data without any user intervention. Existing platforms included IBM Mainframes,
Personal Computer Workstations running DOS, DOS Windows, and OS/2 operating
systems. Annatek Systems wanted to add UNIX workstations to its product line.
The project was to produce a UNIX implementation that provides the same set of
functionality as the other platforms, but in a native interface. The
functionality needed to be accessible from both a command line and an
interactive graphical user interface. This involved the development of a
database server, along with clients which provide the user interfaces. The
software was written in C, using the X Window System and the Motif user
interface toolkit.
