Committees |
| |
Various committees develop policies on behalf of the faculty
and provide assistance to the chair in administering these policies.
- Executive Committee
-
The Executive Committee serves in an advisory capacity to the chair,
especially on personnel issues. It conducts the annual performance reviews
and periodic post-tenure reviews of the faculty. The Executive Committee
may at times delegate some of its responsibilities to subcommittees, other
faculty and staff, and to ad hoc committees. It also forms the Search
Committee, which it invites other faculty to join.
- Undergraduate Committee
-
The Undergraduate Committee handles all policy questions relating to
undergraduate study. This includes the definition of course content for
undergraduate level courses, oversight of and change to the undergraduate
curriculum, advising of undergraduate students, and the recommendation of
candidates for undergraduate fellowships and scholarships.
- Graduate Committee
-
The Graduate Committee is charged with a broad range of graduate student
affairs, both for Masters and PhD students. These include student
recruiting, advising, curricula and examinations, fellowships,
travel awards, policies, petitions, and others.
- Search Committee
-
The Search Committee is an ad hoc committee appointed by the Department
Chair to handle all issues related to the recruitment of new faculty
members. This includes identifying prospects, organizing candidate visits
and talks, and recommending the extension of offers to specific candidates.
