Professor Olof Widlund has made significant contributions in the field of numerical analysis for more than forty years.

In the last twenty years Olof Widlund's work has focused on developing and unifying the research in domain decomposition. Domain decomposition methods are scalable, efficient methods for the solution of linear systems that arise from the discretization of partial differential equations. Thus work in this area is a combination of mathematical analysis and algorithmic development.

The core of the program will be a two-day meeting consisting of about two dozen scientific lectures covering a wide area of numerical analysis, scientific computing and relevant applications. Contributed papers will be considered for a poster session.
