Google Tech Talks

5:00pm-6:00pm

Google is coming to CU to give a presentation on two of their applications, answer questions, encourage internship and employment applications, and give away free stuff! There will be two 15 minute talks (30 minutes total) followed by Q&A. The two talks will highlight two different projects taking place in the Boulder Engineering office:

Mike Goss

Google Earth and Google Maps are populating the world with virtual 3D buildings. I'll demonstrate how anyone can create accurate 3D models of buildings using free Google tools: Building Maker, SketchUp, and Web Textures. I'll also show how to use Google 3D Warehouse to share and collaborate on creation of 3D models. And yes, you CAN try this at home!

Simone Nicolò

The Google SketchUp Ruby API is a way in which Ruby programmers can extend the capabilities of SketchUp to meet their needs. In this talk I will give a brief overview on how the API has been used -- for SketchUp features, for cool third party plugins, for games, for testing.

Google will be generously supplying enough pizza to feed an army ... plus lots of Google swag!

This talk is sponsored by the Computer Science Department ACM Student Chapter.
