Sensemaking is a deliberate effort to understand events or information, and a sketch is a drawing or composition that is not intended as a finished work. This presentation will discuss two prototype social-technical tools that were designed to support collaborative sensemaking and sketching:

This presentation will discuss the motivation for sensemaking and sketching in the architectural domain, demonstrate the FireFly and SketchBook prototypes, and present findings from an evaluation study involving a design charette and twenty-one architecture students.
