4/10/2002
4:00pm-5:00pm

Lockheed Martin Management & Data Systems in Boulder, Colorado is home to over 300 technical and support professionals involved in development of mission-critical distributive systems to support satellite command and control ground systems. The primary program in Boulder is the Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS), a system designed to replace the nation's current Defense Support Program (DSP) with next-generation infrared sensors and ground processing technologies. Research and development of ways to use SBIRS technology in commercial applications is also underway at the facility. An overview of the SBIRS system will be presented, including the motivation for the SBIRS missions. A description of a few of the key technological aspects of the system, such as infrared surveillance, sensor tasking, sensor scheduling, and data processing/filtering will be given.

Refreshments will be served immediately following the presentation.
