Scientific Data Management: Computer Science Challenges to Enable the Science and Engineering of Renewable Energy Technologies
National Renewable Energy Laboratory
Wesley Jones
National Renewable Energy Laboratory
Wind, solar, biofuels, hydrogen, fuel cells, the grid, electrical systems, zero
energy building and solid state lighting begin the list of technologies that
contribute or could potentially contribute to enabling a future based on
renewable energy and energy efficient technologies. Our challenge is to
accelerate the process of scientific discovery and improvement of these
technologies. We will discuss our work and the challenges that we face in
enabling informatics based strategies through improved management of scientific
data -- the systematic and intelligent aggregation, analysis, and mining of
technical data.
Hosted by Elizabeth Jessup.

The Department holds colloquia throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. These
colloquia, open to the public, are typically held on Thursday afternoons, but
sometimes occur at other times as well.
If you would like to receive email notification of upcoming colloquia,
subscribe to our
Colloquia Mailing List.
If you would like to schedule a colloquium, see
Colloquium Scheduling.
Sign language interpreters are available upon request. Please contact
