Colloquium - Eisenberg

ECCR 265

Computational Crafts: A Compendium of Project Ideas
Department of Computer Science, University of Colorado
Michael Eisenberg photo

The purpose of this talk is to explore the huge, and largely uncharted, design space in which computational media and craft materials blend together. To this end, the talk will present a variety of potential projects -- some easily achievable, some more ambitious. The focus throughout is on the sorts of crafts associated with mathematics and science education, and practiced by hobbyists and students. Examples will be drawn from domains such as informal science, mathematical toys and construction kits, science museums and exhibits, and so forth.

Hosted by Elizabeth Bradley.
Refreshments will be served immediately following the talk in ECOT 831.

The Department holds colloquia throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. These colloquia, open to the public, are typically held on Thursday afternoons, but sometimes occur at other times as well. If you would like to receive email notification of upcoming colloquia, subscribe to our Colloquia Mailing List. If you would like to schedule a colloquium, see Colloquium Scheduling.

Sign language interpreters are available upon request. Please contact Stephanie Morris at least five days prior to the colloquium.
