EduTech Institute, Georgia Institute of Technology

The field of Artificial Intelligence and Education had traditionally had a technology-based focus, looking at the ways in which AI can be used in building educational software. But AI can also provide theory about learning and reasoning tha can inform curriculum, pedagogy, and roles for computers in education.

I will illustrate, using my own research history as an example, the role that AI researchers might play in educational research community to make theory-based contributions in the areas of education and educational technology. My journey starts with case-based reasoning, moves on to case-based decision aiding, and continues by informing educational practice and educational software design.

Refreshments will be served immediately before the talk at 3:30pm.
Hosted by Andreas Weigend.

The Department holds colloquia throughout the Fall and Spring semesters. These colloquia, open to the public, are typically held on Thursday afternoons, but sometimes occur at other times as well.
