Xilinx -- 20 Years of Innovation

Xilinx is a 20 year-old company that continues to have a huge impact in the way hardware systems are implemented. We now offer millions of logic gates in packages costing less than $10, and as such have to span a range of disciplines, including IC design, software design and advanced marketing and support. Our latest Spartan III family is one of the first production 90nm devices in the world, and designers can take advantage of the costs of deep-submicron devices without worrying about the crazy analog effects.

I'm going to talk about the company as a whole, what we do and how we do it, and give an in-depth technical look at a design we did in-house for a 4-port router which uses programmable logic, gigabit transceivers and an embedded processor. Xilinx has a large facility in Longmont, as well as corporate headquarters in San Jose, Dublin and now Singapore, and is constantly voted one of the top companies to work for. I hope to explain why.

The Colorado Advanced Technology Series wants to introduce students at the University of Colorado to the technology leaders of local and national industries and help the leaders of those companies explain what their companies do and why they are great places to work.
