BACTAC - Grad Student Discussion Group

ECOT 831

Computer Science Program Review
Grad Student Discussion Group

This year a Program Review Panel is conducting an internal review of the Computer Science Department. The purpose of this panel is essentially to find and eliminate inefficiencies, deficiencies, and dysfunctional programs within the department. The panel would like to hear graduate student input on some specific issues related to a recent survey taken by students in the department, but any aspect of the department is fair game for discussion.

If you have comments/thoughts/gripes about some quality of the program or department, come to this BACTAC -- it will be an excellent opportunity for those thoughts to be heard. The report produced by the panel will be looked at seriously by administrators outside, as well as within, the Computer Science Department.

BACTAC, the Beverage And Chips Tuesday Afternoon Colloquium, is a weekly forum run by graduate students. The goal is provide an informal setting in which anyone can (basically) present anything. In the past, we have had practice talks for conferences and job interviews, research reports, juggle lessons (!), student representative reports, internship discussions, an introduction to ergonomics, and "pay attention to this when you are going to look for job" discussions.

BACTAC is meant to be an informal and social event to promote the interaction among graduate students. BACTAC is typically held every Tuesday, at 3:30pm, in room ECOT 831. Free munchies and drinks are provided.

Please email Caleb Phillips for more information or if you want to be a speaker.
