BACTAC - Morrey

10/14/2003
3:30pm-4:30pm
ECOT 831

Summer Internship Experience at Intel
Graduate Student, Department of Computer Science

DataScope is a proposal for a system that provides uniform content and context based access to persistent and ephemeral information stores. To integrate information from different data sources, DataScope supports user-extensible indexing, query resolution and query result visualization functions. To facilitate content-based data management, DataScope has support for iterative query refinement and composition using results feedback in a single uniform interface. A prototype of the system, called DataSherpa, concerning itself with the file system information store has been implemented, and provides some insight into the complete DataScope vision.

BACTAC, the Beverage And Chips Tuesday Afternoon Colloquium, is a weekly forum run by graduate students. The goal is provide an informal setting in which anyone can (basically) present anything. In the past, we have had practice talks for conferences and job interviews, research reports, juggle lessons (!), student representative reports, internship discussions, an introduction to ergonomics, and "pay attention to this when you are going to look for job" discussions.

BACTAC is meant to be an informal and social event to promote the interaction among graduate students. BACTAC is typically held every Tuesday, at 3:30pm, in room ECOT 831. Free munchies and drinks are provided.

Please email Caleb Phillips for more information or if you want to be a speaker.
