Where to Stay

There are a number of places to stay in and near Boulder. While those near Campus are particularly convenient, getting to Campus from almost anywhere in the city is relatively quick and easy -- usually about 10 minutes or less via car. Hotels in neighboring towns are reasonable possibilities when Boulder hotels are full.

Where to Eat

Boulder has many good restaurants in a variety of price ranges. Here are some of the more interesting ones.

Getting Around

GO Boulder Bus has regular buses that are part of the RTD (Regional Transportation District) system. The City also runs some very convenient bus lines around town:

  • HOP - runs between campus, the Pearl Street Mall, and the Twenty Ninth Street Shopping District

  • SKIP - runs between north and south Boulder on Broadway

  • STAMPEDE - runs between the main campus and the east campus

  • BOUND - connects campus to northeast Boulder via 30th Street

  • BOLT - runs from downtown Boulder northeast on the Diagonal Highway to Longmont

  • JUMP - runs from downtown Boulder east on Arapahoe to Lafayette

  • DASH - connects Boulder to Lafayette and Louisville via South Boulder Road

These lines tend to run more frequently than the other buses that wander about town.

You can get almost anywhere in town with Boulder Yellow Cab (303-777-7777) for a few bucks. You must call to get a cab. You cannot hail one on the street.

The Boulder Creek bike path is great for walking, roller blading, bicycling, etc. and goes from out East, beside campus, to downtown and up into the mountains about 3 miles. Getting around town by bicycle is generally very easy. GO Boulder Bike provides many useful resources for cyclists.

The Weather

While it's possible to have snow in Boulder in any month of the year except July and August, and it can get seriously cold in the winter and quite warm in the summer, the typical day in Boulder is sunny, dry, and relatively mild.
