November 2007
Computer Science faculty member Bruce Sanders was named the CU Football "Faculty Coach of the Week" for the week of
October 28, 2007. This was in recognition of his work as the Department of
Computer Science Athletics Liaison with the Department of Intercollegiate
Athletics and for his assistance in athletic recruiting activities.
As the "faculty coach", Sanders attended team and coaches' meetings, practices,
team meals, and other activities during the week leading up to the game with
the University of Missouri on Saturday. He also addressed the team at the
conclusion of the Thursday practice. On game day, he participated in all
pre-game team activities and was an honorary captain on the field for the coin
toss. Sanders was also on the CU sideline during the game and in the locker
room both before and after the game.
The "Faculty Coach of the Week" is intended to honor faculty who have been
of assistance to the Athletic Department and to give faculty a better
understanding of the athletics operation and the activities of student
athletes.
