The University of Colorado has been awarded the nation's first
Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center (RERC)
for the Advancement of Cognitive Technologies by the
National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR).
Gerhard Fischer,
Andrew Gorman,
James Sullivan,
and Clayton Lewis
are participants in the $5.5M center, which is headed by
Cathy Bodine of Health Sciences
and Michael Lightner of Engineering,
and includes researchers at several other institutions. The goal of the
center's work is to reduce barriers to independent living and the workforce
for persons with significant cognitive impairments.
