Wesley Willett was named the Department of
Computer Science outstanding graduate at the 41st annual Engineering Awards
Banquet held on April 21, 2006.
Professor Clayton Lewis
said the following in presenting the award:
Wesley Willett is one of those people who excel at everything they do.
He's also one of those people who seek out opportunities, and who seek out the
knowledge and skill needed to attack the opportunities. Willett has been active
on many fronts in our Computer Science program. His research work with Prof.
Shivakant Mishra led to a publication on secure internet
multicast, presented at the International Association of Science and Technology
for Development Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing and Systems.
As a participant in Educational Technology House, he created software for
Profs. Paul Weimer of Geology,
Mark Amerika of Fine Arts,
and Elspeth Dusinberre of Classics.
He has developed his knowledge and skills in graphics and design by completing
the certificate program in Technology, Arts, and Media in the ATLAS Institute.
Wes will begin PhD study in Computer Science at the University of California at
Berkeley in the fall.
