Cephers Wins ITLL Engineering Video Contest

A video by Computer Science Senior Aaron Cephers placed first in the Spring 2010 ITLL Engineering Video Contest. The video, Brain Computer Interfaces, describes Aaron's work investigating controlling computers and robots using mind and facial gestures. It demonstrates wireless control of a mobile robot using neural responses recorded by an electro-encephalogram headset.

A possible application is wheel-chair control for the handicapped. Research challenges specific to robotics are mapping the low-dimensional and noise sensor signal provided by the electro-encephalogram headset to the high-dimensional action space of a robotic platform. The project was supervised by Professors Nikolaus Correll and Clayton Lewis.
