November 2005
Graduate student Charles (Brad) Morrey III and
Professor Dirk Grunwald
were recognized recently when they were nominated for the
Housing & Dining Services
Academic Support and Assistance Program
and National Residence Hall Honorary
Fall 2005 Academic Recognition Celebration. Each semester the
Committee on Learning and Academic Support Services honors residence hall
students who achieved a 3.5 or higher GPA for the previous semester by holding
a celebration in their honor. These students are asked to nominate faculty and
staff members who have had a significant impact on their success at CU.
Morrey and Grunwald were sponsored by Electrical and Computer Engineering
student Elliott Hedman for the experience he
gained during an Earn-Learn Apprenticeship helping teach students in
CSCI 1300.
Grunwald also received the
CU-LEAD Alliance
Faculty Appreciation Award in recognition of dedication and commitment
to the success of CU-LEAD Alliance scholars at the University of Colorado at
Boulder. Grunwald was nominated by students from the non-majors section of
CSCI 1300 that he is teaching this fall.
The CU-LEAD Alliance is a set of multidisciplinary academic neighborhoods whose
students, faculty, and staff are united to promote diversity and educational
excellence for our campus through access for students of color and first
generation students. These neighborhoods build community by providing academic
enrichment, leadership activities, scholarships, small group classes and
computer labs, personal links to faculty and staff, a gathering place,
counseling and mentoring, and opportunities for community service.
