This year's Fall barbeque will be held on the north end of Kittredge Field.
Kittredge Field is located just south of the Coors Events Center between 28th
Street/US 36 and the Kittredge dorms. Look for the white tent with the big
yellow "Computer Science" banner and you'll find the party. We'll be hanging
out in the sun, having a barbeque and playing volleyball. The BBQ is during the
normal Colloqium time slot so that everyone can attend.
Feel free to come join us. The picnic is open to all CS department graduate
students (both PhD and Master's) as well as CS faculty and staff. We
encourage everyone to show up and hang out with your fellow members of the
department. Feel free to bring your SOs and children, but let us know so that
we can get enough food and drinks.
If you plan to attend, please send me
Soraya Ghiasi
mail and let me know how many people you will be bringing so that we can get
the necessary amount of food. Also, let me know if you are a vegetarian or
plan to eat like one at the BBQ, have dietary restrictions that come into
play in a picnic, or have food allergies we should try to avoid. We'll be
providing a variety of grillable food plus some additional side dishes and
desserts. If you have food or drink requests, let us know. We'll take them
under consideration, but make no guarantees. The department will be providing
the food and beverages (water, lemonade, soda, beer and hard cider).
Risk Management and the CU Police mandate that we check IDs for everyone
drinking alcohol to ensure that we aren't giving alcohol to anyone under 21.
If you plan to drink alcohol, make sure you bring your driver's license.
We are looking for volunteers to help us get everything non-perishable loaded
into vehicles in the afternoon on August 29th. We are also looking for
volunteers to help get everything over to the north end of Kittredge Field and
set up starting at 1:00pm on August 30th. We also need volunteers to help us
clean up and tear everything down afterwards. If you are willing to help,
let us know.
If you are planning to attend, please let me know by Wednesday, August 29th at
9:00am. Let me know how many people you will be bringing and any dietary
considerations we need to keep in mind. This will leave us with enough time to
actually get all the supplies and get organized for the BBQ the next day.
