Congratulations to Professor Daniel Connors,
principal investigator of an awarded Intel/HP Itanium Processor Family research
grant. Fellow researchers

Robert (Bobby) Schnabel,
and
Clarence (Skip) Ellis
share in this award as well and will use the
Itanium system resources for their research/outreach projects.
The equipment awarded under the HP/Intel Itanium-Based System Grants Program
includes six 1-way workstations and two 2-way workstations valued at $76,960.
The projects of interest to Intel/HP for which the Itanium systems are
designated were
- Predicate-Based Transformations for Improving Memory Efficiency
- EPIC Computer Architecture and Compiler Technology Curriculum
- Analysis of Scientific Computing Workloads
Subsidiary projects described in the proposal include
- Scientific Computing Analysis and Optimization for Itanium Systems
Professor Connors will direct the use of the Itanium systems between
University of Colorado Department of Computer Science and
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering projects.
The University of Colorado was selected for this research grant with a list of
very prestigious schools: MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Princeton, Harvard, and
the University of Illinois.
