about 45 min drive; 9000'. Take Canyon St (Rt 119) west to and through Nederland. Turn right about a mile past the town, following the signs to the Eldora ski area. Continue straight, past the left turn to the ski area, through the town of Eldora (stop sign). After the road turns to dirt, you'll encounter a fork. Take the left fork, or park there if the road is wet. Hessie trailhead is about half a mile further in. The trail to Jasper Lake is particularly nice. |
| Fourth of July trailhead: |
about 60 min drive; 10000+'. Take Canyon St (Rt 119) west to and through Nederland. Turn right about a mile past the town, following the signs to the Eldora ski area. Continue straight, past the left turn to the ski area, through the town of Eldora (stop sign). After the road turns to dirt, you'll encounter a fork. Take the right fork and follow the road to its end. Mt. Arapahoe (13400') is about a 3hr hike from this trailhead.
